Turkish restaurateur, Faruk Günay, and his Sheffield-born wife Ruth, welcome you to Lokanta in Broomhill where they are proud to present contemporary Turkish food, wine and hospitality. The couple ran a beachfront bar and restaurant on the Turkish Mediterranean coast before swapping the sunshine for Ruth’s home city of Sheffield. In Turkey, their love of good food and hospitality was shared year-round with locals and holidaymakers alike. Lokanta is Turkish for neighbourhood restaurant, and the aim is to bring the best of modern Turkey to the table in Broomhill.

Lokanta opened in Glossop Road at the end of 2009. The menu is divided in to meze dishes and main courses. Diners can choose a selection of meze to share Mediterranean style or select a meze dish for a starter followed by a main. The popular Meze Banquet caters for groups of four or more and comes including meat and seafood or as a vegetarian option. The Lokanta Bistro Menu is ideal for a midweek bite to eat or easy Sunday dining. Desserts include Lokanta’s own baklava and a delicious home-baked chocolate brownie which happens to be gluten free. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes are marked on the menu. Families are welcome and a children’s menu is always available. The restaurant is fully licensed and features an all Turkish wine list with many award-winning bottles.

Med Food Co serves Mediterranean inspired fast food at lunchtimes and evenings at the top of Glossop Road, Broomhill. Owners Faruk and Ruth Günay run a Turkish restaurant, Lokanta, a little further down the road and wanted to bring their style of food to lunches and takeaway meals.

The Günays think of it as healthy fast food because it is good quality, made from scratch and mainly grilled. The menu includes grilled chicken, lamb, kofte meatballs, halloumi and falafel which come in either fresh home-made flatbread wraps or in a salad or rice box. There is a choice of sauce; roast red pepper, chili or mint yoghurt.

Popular additions to the menu have been a range of burgers served in Rose’s the Bakers brioche buns, sweet potato fries and omelette wraps. Gluten free options include rice and salad boxes whilst vegans can choose falafel wraps, vegetable or salad boxes.

Look in the fridge for mini hummus and bread pots, fresh fruit and olives. A range of baked treats are available on the counter.

Freshly ground coffee from Sheffield company Cafeology is served in Med Food Co fully compostable coffee cups or in a re-usable stainless steel cup which carries a discount on coffee for the life of the cup.

See the menu online or call in when you are passing.

With a stripped back wooden interior matched with bold colours the attention to detail cannot go missed, a trend that will stay prominent throughout your visit. Its name reflects in the menu as your mouth will start to water on the very glimpse of the appetisers followed by the Meats (Butcher), which then delightfully blends through to the Seafood (Catch). Supporting local businesses and farmers, Butcher and Catch source all their products locally but most importantly sustainably. Whether it’s a dash of Hendo’s in its Bourbon BBQ sauce or fresh Sheffield made cheese, the menu showcases the very best quality of products while also sizzling in the glory of some of Sheffield’s greatest Independents.

True North Brew Co’s Broomhill gem. An unmistakable, characteristic venue that has been a landmark of Broomhill for over 100 years. You can make yourself at home in front of our open fire, grab a table amongst the curiosities or relax in our snug. In the summer our enclosed garden is a welcome retreat from the bustle of Broomhill.

Ginger is an independent licensed coffee shop and deli that opened on 1 August 2018. We serve specialty coffee and loose leaf tea, fresh bread, sandwiches, pastries and cakes, cheese, cured meat, salads and soup. We also sell craft beer and wine to drink in or take away.

We love Sheffield and want to support small businesses so it goes without saying that we're using high quality food and drink sourced from local and independent producers wherever possible. For example our coffee is roasted in the city centre, our chutneys, jam and marmalade are made in Nether Edge and we stock chocolate and cheese made down the road in Kelham Island.

The cafe has ramp access and space for wheelchairs and pushchairs, a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities, and high chairs. We are of course breastfeeding-friendly and are happy for parents to heat up baby food. We also welcome well-behaved dogs!

Ginger is available to hire after 5pm for parties, meetings, networking events and workshops and we also offer buffet catering in the Broomhill area.
